MARTIN ROBBIO TRIO.

In the search of a new and original sound, the trio mixes ingredients coming from Jazz music, with South American folk sounds: from the first one, they take the improvisation; from the second one, the rhythm. Starting with the pianist Martin Robbio’s compositions, the three musicians try to reach, in their music, spaces where the hearing, and the dialogue between the instruments, can come in the first place and be the main idea in the proposal, that it’s based in rhythms like Argentineans “chacarera” and “milonga”, Uruguayan “candombe”, Brazilian “samba”, among others.

Respecting the South American popular music tradition, but trying to leave new traces, the trio explores new territories where the search is the consonance of the ideas offered by the different instruments, that can reach moments of understanding and union trying to reach a high musicality, declining the individual exhibition. The search is a collective one, trying to transmit with honesty and responsibility the emotions of the music. All theses components, talks about the trio, whose music is not here to imitate or cheer up, but it has something to say.

Nowadays, the trio is presenting the compositions of their first album “Parresia”, (entirely recorded at “Casa Frida” Studios and edited in 2012), and the new album “El mismo río”, edited in 2015 and selected as month´s best album in Club del Disco.

Parresía is the title of the first album recorded by the trio integrated by Martín Robbio (piano and composition), Ariel Sánchez (drumms and percussion) and Juan Fracchi (double-bass), entirely recorded alive at the Casa Frida Studios in deceember, 2011. In the ancient Greece, “parresía” ment “speak freely” or “frankly”. Speaking with the obligation of orienting the truth to the common good, the freedom, the honesty, that makes us say what we have to say, in the way that we want to say itwhenever we want to say it, and in the way we feel necessary to say it. The word parresía is bound to several things: the freedom of election, the decission, the attitude of the one that is speaking, all of them things that the latins translated with the word libertasIn the trio work, the three musicians try to reach spaces where the hearing, and the dialogue between the instruments, can come in the first place and be the main idea in the proposal.

Parresía has fourteen pieces, all of them compositions made by Martín Robbiothat have as rhythmic base structures, south American popular music rhythms such as Argentineans “chacarera” and “milonga”, Uruguayan “candombe”, Brazilian “samba”, among others. The conceptual idea is mixing these rhythms with the trio improvisation. The album was presented during several seasons and festivals in different venues in Buenos Aires City, with the company of several special guests. The album was selected by the “Club del disco” (Disc Club) and recommended in the mediaIt is also on sale in several disc shops all over Argentina, and in Japan.
